The 10 Most Compelling Interracial Romances

Although interracial romances in films are definitely not the rarity they once were when movies like 'Guess Who's Coming to Dinner' or '100 Rifles' hit the screen, they are still fairly uncommon.

So it was a surprise to see that in the new romantic comedy 'Our Family Wedding,' America Ferrera and Lance Gross play a Mexican woman and an African-American man in love. Considering that most movies featuring interracial lovers include one white partner, it was a welcome change to explore how two minorities would handle the ups and downs of cross-cultural romance in 'Wedding' -- even if it was handled in a stereotypical fashion to milk laughs out of the audience.

Looking back at movies with interracial couples, they fall into two categories -- ones in which the couple's backgrounds are a Big Deal, and ones in which it's just not an issue. The majority of movies on this list are the former, but perhaps one day soon, more movies won't need to highlight a couple's cultural differences -- you know, sort of like Uhura and Spock in 'Star Trek.'

'Twilight: Eclipse' Trailer-Reaction Videos Keep Everything in Perspective

Where were you on March 11, 2010?

That is the question people will be asking for generations, as we look back on this history-changing day -- the day the trailer for 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' was released.

Luckily for the children of the future, the full impact of the day has been preserved thanks to the magic of YouTube trailer-reaction videos. If it weren't for these brave documentarians, we would have no idea what really happened. These intrepid historians have done everything they can to record the sights and sounds of this momentous occasion.

Movie Casting: Anne Hathaway, Jim Sturgess Book 'Day' Trip

Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess are in talks to star in 'One Day' from director Lone Scherfig ('An Education'). Based on the novel by David Nicholls, the film follows a young couple (Hathaway and Sturgess) who meet for the first time at their graduation, then meet one day a year during the next 20 years. Think 'One Fine Day' meets '(500) Days of Summer.' [Hollywood Reporter]

Fox May Re-Release 'Avatar' With Additional Scenes

Get ready for 'Avatar 1.5.'

The Hollywood Reporter brings news that 20th Century Fox and James Cameron are looking to re-release 'Avatar' sometime this summer, complete with additional footage that was left on the cutting room floor (or in the Trash on a Mac) as it was rushed to make its original Dec. 18 release date.

Cameron has said that he has an additional 10-12 minutes of footage that could be put into post-production fairly quickly, including a scene in which Jake Sully's avatar proves himself to the Na'vi people and another involving a native festival during which tribe member Tsu'tey gets drunk.

Hugo Weaving to Face Off Against Captain America?

You can't say that Hugo Weaving doesn't know his fan base.

After major roles in two geek-cred trilogies ('The Matrix' and 'Lord of the Rings'), voicing a legendary alien robot ('Transformers') and making a hero turn in an Alan Moore graphic novel adaptation ('V for Vendetta'), Heat Vision reports that Weaving is atop Marvel's list to play boneheaded villain Red Skull in the upcoming comic book film 'The First Avenger: Captain America.'

As one might expect, the Nazi-associated villain -- like the 'Cap, a WW2-era soldier awoken from decades of suspended animation -- has a bony, signature red skull, and is considered to be pure evil.

Horror DVD Reviews: Survival of the Dead

Survival of the Dead DVDLike a man idly pulling at a loose thread on his best jumper, George A Romero returns with his sixth zombie film, Survival Of The Dead. Having defined the genre with his first three untouchables (Night..., Dawn..., Day...), Uncle George revisited his undead canon in 2005, quickly whipping out another three films in quick succession. These films, however, are also untouchable, but for different reasons as in they stink so badly you wouldn't actually want to touch them.

When Movie Stars Trash Their Own Work

I once interviewed Sylvester Stallone who, looking back on his hit-and-miss career, remarked, "'Cobra' - what was I thinking?" This was more than a decade after he'd released that particular turkey, but still, better late than never.

It's rare for stars to admit in public that they've made terrible movies. Recently, however, we've seen a rash of such admissions. Colin Farrell recently dissed 'Miami Vice,' saying, "I didn't like it so much." (As with Stallone, the apology came many years late, but still, there it is.)

Matthew Goode, at least, had the decency to apologize for 'Leap Year'
while the film is still skulking around theaters, thus performing a consumer service to anyone who might still make the mistake of going to see it at the multiplex. "I just know that there are a lot of people who will say it is the worst film of 2010... Was it a bad job? Yes, it was. But, you know, I had a nice time and I got paid," he said.
